Combi Approach Toolkit (CATK)

The Combi Approach Toolkit (in Dutch "Combi Aanpak Tool Kit") aims to combine trade, investments and development cooperation with the aim to tackle contemporary challenges like climate change. Dutch companies, knowledge institutes and societal organisations can contribute to solutions. The innovation power, investment power and entrepreneurial spirit of Dutch companies can strengthen and complement development cooperation. This must result in win-win situations in which on the one side the policy will contribute to solving societal challenges and local economic development and on the other side enlarging the earning power of the Dutch private sector abroad.

The focus will be on two transitions, the green economic transition and the digital transition, in thirteen countries:

  • Bangladesh
  • Colombia
  • Côte d'Ivoire
  • Egypt
  • Ghana
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Kenya
  • Morocco
  • Nigeria
  • Senegal
  • South Africa
  • Vietnam

* Ukraine has been identified as fourteenth country, where the focus will be on reconstruction after the war.

In the fourteen countries, one or two strategic combi-tracks will be selected, developed and implemented. These tracks have to contribute to the following objectives:

  • Sustainable Dutch earning capacity (SDG 17);
  • Local and sustainable economic development and the creation of meaningful employment (SDG 8), focussed on youth and women (SDG 5);
  • The green economic transition and/or digital transition (SDG 2, SDG 6, SDG 7, SDG 11, SDG 12 and SDG 13).
