UNICEF Sudan Water Supply Specialist

This is an assignment at the request of UNICEF.

Fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began in Khartoum on 15th April 2023 and spread quickly to neighbouring cities and states, Darfur, and other areas across Sudan. The WASH service needs are critical in hotspot locations, internally displaced people's (IDP), transit sites and major towns hosting the people on the move.

UNICEF's capacity to support in the essential WASH service delivery need and coordination has been overstretched, because of the staff strength gap and additional need for technical staff with hands-on experience in complex humanitarian responses to crises. Support is therefore needed to fill the immediate gap and to backstop the additional support required nationwide at this peak phase of the emergency.
