Innovation Window: Women's Employment Stimulus RBF Fund

With this project, SNV Tanzania aims to test the effect of an financial incentive for off-grid solar companies that employ (young) women on the customer base, the sales figures and inclusivity of those companies.

The share of women employees in off-grid solar is currently at 17.8%. SNV will select 10-15 companies to participate. The companies will receive an incentive to hire and retain an expected 250 new (young) female employees, increasing the share of women to 25%. SNV will support companies to increase gender diversity, equality and inclusion using the International Center for Research on Women’s (ICRW) Gender Scoring Tool and data collected by 60 Decibel.

SNV will disseminate data on the effects of the financial incentive and the female employees and advocate for further inclusion of (young) female employees in the sector.
