PSI workshop Beirut: MENA and WEF – the development of a rapid pre-assessment nexus tool
The ETF, in partnership with the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs at the American University of Beirut, has been holding sub-regional policy dialogues on the Water – Energy – Food (WEF) Nexus for countries of the Levant, as part of the Planetary Security Initiative (PSI) Middle East and North Africa chapter activities. The policy dialogues brought together senior representatives from Ministries of Water, Energy and Agriculture from Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and the Palestinian Territories.
A 2-day workshop and a teambuilding session were organized in Beirut as a follow-up of the PSI workshop organized in Amman in October 2017 (ETFP17001), in which participants expressed the need for the development of a tool that assist policy makers to assess how WEF-proof policies are. The second workshop therefore aimed to advance work on these interests through proposing a framework for a nexus tool, and presenting a platform for designing and developing projects that could advance the work.
