Solar Water Pumping Policy Dialogue in Tanzania

The cooperation with the Tanzania Renewable Energy Association (TAREA), a non-governmental non-profit network of renewable energy with around 800 members, started in March 2020.

The objective of the project is enabling the adoption of solar water pumping for irrigation by smallholder farmers. To replace diesel generators and reduce the use of fossil fuel. Therefore, TAREA works on raising awareness and advocates for solar water pumping as strategic technology in policy development.

The aimed impacts are increased crop production for smallholder farmers, while reducing CO2 emissions by 487 Kg CO2/acre/year through the use of photo voltaic pumping systems.
