Eradiction of child labour in tourism

With the exception of sexual abuse of children, the attention to other child labour issues related to (international) tourism is still relatively new. This will now be addressed in this FBK-project executed by ANVR (the Dutch branch organisation for outbound tourism) and tour operator Riksja Travel.

First, in project A, the scale, scope, root causes and possible mitigating measures related to child labour in Yogyakarta and vicinity and Bali will be assessed. Child labour risk areas:

  1. Tourism providers (in)directly contracted by Riksja Travel.
  2. Service supply chains related to these tourism providers.

Based on the findings, an action plan will be developed which will be implemented in project B. In addition, in project A an action plan for improved due diligence management for Riksja Travel will be developed. This plan will be implemented in project B.
