Eradication of child labour in spices

In project A scale, scope, root causes and possible mitigating measures related to child labour in black pepper from Vietnam and chilies from India will be assessed. Based on the findings, action plans will be developed and implemented in project B. In addition, current policies and measures of the participating companies in the area of 'Responsible Business Conduct (RBC)' will be assessed and benchmarked against the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for RBC. If necessary, action plans for optimising due diligence management of the companies will be developed. Initially, the companies involved in this project will seek cooperation with their 1st tiers, but also involvement of suppliers further upstream the supply cain will be required.
Other Dutch and European spices companies and Indian / Vietnamese stakeholders will be invited to participate in the development and implementation of the action plans for India and Vietnam.
