Midjo Togo

The project “Midjo” – which means “let’s go” in local language aims to implement a set of activities to not only reduce to reduce the Living Income (LI) gap and child labour prevalence, capitalize on best practices, but also allow improve knowledge and access to information on Living income in Togo through the elaboration of a living income benchmark that is currently inexistent.

In order to address child labour prevalence and the LI gap within the Togolese context, Midjo will give priority to:

• The household and not simply the farmer;
• Improving household economic situation;
• Increasing awareness of household on child labour.

Similarly to EnRoute Cote d’Ivoire, the consortium of Enroute (Oxfam, KIT) developed a Smart Mix of Service interventions that fit the Togo context. In Togo this consists of activities that will focus on farm and at household or community level. Activities will be implemented with supplying partner of cocoa and coffee – the Kloto Centre (KC) union that regroup 1,100 farmers.

The different pillars of the project are:

1. Inception. First step is the inception to onboard team and stakeholders;
2. Awareness-raising and community development remediation activities to end child labour;
3. Combatting yield losses due to climate change to ensure family income and reduce child labour;
4. Impact evaluation of Living Income and Child labour in Togo.
