Poultry Farming
The partners want to establish a poultry facility. The aim is to supply the Afghan population with high quality and healthy poultry meat. The business will cover all activities of the poultry production chain: breeding, hatchery, butchery, marketing, distribution, and raising breeders. The end products are fresh meat and deep frozen chicken. Production will be performed according to approved European standards (TÜV and DEKRA) under strict observance of hygiene and animal health. The butchery will be performed in accordance with Islam rules.
The investment will create 125 new jobs. 50% of these jobs are allocated to women. The applicant has experience in establishing poultry facilities in difficult countries e.g. Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Belarus. He will be responsible for the setting up the facility and installing the machinery and equipment. Local partner was established in 2007 for this project. The owner of this company will be responsible for the daily management, marketing and distribution.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
The applicant has not introduced CSR procedures. However, he takes measures to meet or exceed German legal labour standards. Employment standards are:
- Working time will be 40 hours per week (48 as exemption).
- Wages will be about 20% above average in Afghanistan.
- The minimum age of employees is 18 years.
- Female and male employees will receive the same wages for the same work.
All employees will enjoy the freedom of association. All employees are free to join unions or to establish work committees. Common rooms or rest rooms will be provided for all employees. In addition, a first aid post is to be installed. All employees will be provided with cost free common lunches and refreshing drinks. A small corporate pharmacy is to be established to hand out medically prescript medicine cost-free.
