Strategic multi-country mission on climate smart agriculture to the Netherlands
In a time when the effects of climate change become ever more apparent, the Netherlands and Morocco wish to join forces to further develop climate smart agriculture in Africa. A first step will be to invite policy makers from several African countries to the Netherlands to learn how to better translate their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), such as cutting emissions, into climate-smart strategies and projects that are implementable and bankable and to learn from the Dutch technology, experience and initiatives. After a strategic mission to the Netherlands, policy makers of multiple African countries will have gathered useful policy insights and contacts to start or strengthen collaboration (both bi- and multilateral); are inspired and have gained insight in Dutch technologies, expertise and experience related to climate smart farming; and have gathered insight in funding opportunities for climate smart agriculture.
This project, a study visit to the Netherlands, aims to provide the Moroccan AAA Foundation with relevant knowledge and networks in the Netherlands in order to successfully implement the AAA Initiative and its ambition: acceleration of climate smart agriculture in Africa. By involving senior policy makers of member countries of the AAA Initiative, knowledge will be spread among a larger group and at the same time, cooperation among Morocco and the member countries will be boosted.Last but not least, this study visit should help identify funding possibilities in the Netherlands for (parts of) the AAA Initiative.
