Business development dairy sector

Since the start of the full-fledged invasion on February 2022, the dairy sector suffered a lot. Production price increased. In addition to ruining of the dairy farms, logistic routes for inputs and final produce to the usual local and export markets of dairy products were disrupted, so suppliers of milk products need to look for new markets. Expenditures and costs for the farms' inputs increased dramatically.Monitoring programs for animal health are organized by the government and funded by the government and the companies. Implementation of programs depends a lot on cooperation in the sector, especially in the war reality when budget funds are limited. For setting up the export of dairy products, the overall animal health situation in the country needs to be improved.
For this food safety requirements and animal health situation in the country are very important. The current monitoring program for leptospirosis foresees taking blood tests. At the moment, a state program of monitoring leptospirose extends mandatory to the areas where many cases of disease were registered. In practice, many farms do not implement it in a good way because of the lack of funds.Bulk milk testing is cheaper and easier than blood tests because with 1 sample it is possible to test 200-1000 cows depending on the size of the farm. It is also more animal friendly and gives more reliable results.
During the project, training will be provided to all the parties to explain the use, meaning and actions to be taken with the results of the tests. In the course of implementation, the stakeholders will be updated about the proceedings, results, and recommendations. This will become a step towards enhancing the program of monitoring leptospirosis among cattle at dairy farms.
