DELIVER Nigeria (DEcent LIVelihoods for small-scale producers delivered through Economic & Resilient food systems in Nigeria)

This project aims at1. capacity building of smallholder farmers in vegetable production and marketing, including imparting climate resilience and reducing postharvest losses;2. capacity building of sector professionals (other agriculturalists, such as government and non-governmental organization (NGO) extension agents); increasing market connections;3. increasing access to finance; and4. increasing consumption of vegetables.The activities center on working closely with key farmers, who set up demonstration plots to showcase advanced agricultural techniques and technologies. These demonstration plots serve as hubs for training other farmers in vegetable production, postharvest handling, and business and market planning. The project is also supporting the consumption of vegetables. Project partners carry out promotional activities in the community to position vegetables for production and consumption. The strategy is built around three components:a. build supportive food cultures;b. lessen the emotional and financial appeal of unhealthy foods and differentiate them from healthy and sustainable foods; andc. promote nutritious foods by generating a desire for healthy diets from sustainable food systems.
