SEE-Clean Cooking: Digital carbon trading pilot (CaVEx)

This pilot project is funded under the African Biodigester Component (ABC), and jointly implemented by SNV, 4R Digital, the Africa Bio-Energy Program Limited (ABPL), GIZ, Inclusive Energy, and Sistema Bio.

The project aims to test the use of Smart Biogas meters to capture data and test the sale of carbon credits through the CaVEx digital carbon trading platform and real life field testing with small and medium-sized biodigesters, installed under the ABC programme in Kenya.

The Carbon Value Exchange (CaVEx) platform, is an online brokerage place to connect buyers and sellers of carbon credits. It was designed to democratize access to carbon finance through the integration of connected devices to a digital marketplace, and allows smaller carbon projects, such as small biodigester enterprises, to access carbon finance as a crucial income stream.
