Textile and garments programme Vietnam (TF13VNP10B)

Dutch garment enterprises are looking to Vietnam for sourcing and investment opportunities. For Dutch garment enterprises the two main constraints for doing business in Vietnam are:

  1. Most garment manufacturers in Vietnam focus on large quantities with basic quality, while Dutch businesses are looking for low quantities of high quantity.
  2. Most Vietnamese producers are not or less capable of managing CMT (Cut, Make, Trim)/FOB (Free on Board) orders.

While Vietnamese producers are interested in the EU market, but the majority do not have the required knowledge about the market requirements and managing CMT/FOB orders. For Vietnamese producers, the added value of CMT production is very limited.

The aim of this project is to increase trade volumes in the textile sector by enabling Vietnamese garment producers to produce according to Dutch market demand (high quality, low quantities) and international CSR standards. Vietnamese garment producers will be able to handle CMT/FOB orders for the European market and are easier to access for Dutch companies.

Therefore, a fact finding mission to Vietnam has been carried out by the Amsterdam Fashion Academy.
