Fundacíon Cerrejon
The Netherlands embassy in Bogotá, Colombia (EKN) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fundacíon Cerrejon in March 2015, in which the EKN offers to support the development of a Water Provision Plan for the area of influence of Fundacíon Cerrejon in the arid Colombian province of La Guajira. In order to bring technical expertise to the MoU, the project Fundacíon Cerrejon has been set up.
Fundación Cerrejón promotes water supply solutions, basic sanitation and hygiene practices, and environmental sustainable solutions in the use of water in the province of La Guajira.
The objective of the project Fundacíon Cerrejon carried out by Brabant Water is to promote cooperation between the Netherlands and Fundación Cerrejón in the fields of:
- Water distribution.
- Sanitation and hygiene.
- Integrated management of water sources.
Brabant Water will also act as partner for the EKN to introduce additional Dutch companies with specific expertise needed for this project to Fundación Cerrejon.
The project resulted in:
- Exchange of knowledge and capacity development between the partners.
- The definition of a number of scenarios that are feasible solutions for drinking water provision in the area of Media Luna in La Guajira.
- Workshops and seminars.
