Holland Africa Poultry Partners (HAPP) (TGOS140001)

This project focuses on poultry in Ethiopia.

Ethiopia is one of the emerging markets in Africa, with a large domestic market, significant economic growth and a strategic location near the Gulf States. The policy of the Ethiopian Government is to increase the production in the poultry sector from eggs to meat and feed. Farmers miss the appropriate knowledge, expertise and skills.

A Dutch consortium of poultry companies offers hardware and knowledge of the poultry chain, together with Dutch knowledge partners, to farmers. The demonstration farm will act as a National Poultry Training Centre in collaboration with the Ethiopian Government.

Partners in the project are the applicant Netherlands-African Business Council (NABC), the Netherlands embassy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and a consortium of Dutch companies in the poultry sector such as: Vencomatic Group, Aeres Group, Wageningen Universtiy, Pas Reform-Hatchery technologies, De Heus Animal Nutrition B.V., Isa-Hendricks Genetics, VDL Agrotech, MSD Animal Health.

The Dutch partners work together with the Ministry of Livestock of Ethiopia and the Ethiopian Poultry Producers Association.
